Compact tree with clusters of large, fragrant, semi-double pale pink blooms that smother the branches in late spring. This upright, columnar Japanese cherry is one of the best ornamental trees for a small garden. It will thrive in any soil but does need plenty of sunshine to flower well. Prune in summer to reduce the risk of silver leaf and bacterial canker. Cut back any dead, diseased or branches which cross to healthy wood. Fully hardy, average growth rate and tolerates most soils. An outstanding cultivar and one of the oldest still available in the trade. It also has, perhaps the most brilliant scarlet fall colour and greatest vigor of any Japanese maple. Large leaves give it a bold appearance all year. It is a very famous, yet uncommon Japanese Maple cultivated for centuries in Japan. Most of the growing season the foliage color is a rich green. Its leaves are large, seven-lobed and palmate. It reaches an average height of 12 to 15 ft. It prefers a sheltered position in rich acidic, moisture-retaining soil. Click the image to read more!
Malus Gorgeous - Flowering Crab Apple has an average height of 2-4 metres x 2-3 metres wide. It is a very pretty deciduous New Zealand hybrid. Small tree with masses of small pink buds opening to single white flowers in spring. Red fruits can be used in cooking. Single trunk with upright branches which can become open and pendulous under the weight of fruit. Best grown in a protected sunny site in rich fertile soil. This attractive tree, which is one of the most popular of the crab apples, is rightly called 'Gorgeous'. At less than 3m tall, it is only a small tree. The bright crimson-red fruit, touched with orange on the underside, is borne in heavy clusters on long stems. While the flowers are quite insipid, the budding branches are often used in floral arrangements. The fruit makes an excellent jelly. M. 'Gorgeous' grows in any soil, including heavy clay, and is resistant to most diseases. It's perfect for a sunny part of any cool-climate garden but also loves a heavy frost. This tree has been around for millions of years, today this hardy deciduous tree is enjoyed as a landscape plant in many parts of the world. Ginkgo grows slowly to a height of 100 ft (30.5 m), with a width in the range of 20-50 ft (6.1-15.2 m). Male trees tend to grow taller and more upright than the female trees which assume a lower, spreading form. Both exhibit an irregular pattern of branching that is visually appealing. The ginkgo has unique fan-shaped leaves that are 2-3 in (5.1-7.6 cm) long. Leaf veins radiate out from the petiole (leaf stem), and the center of the fan is notched, dividing the leaf into two lobes inspiring the species name biloba. Click the image to read more!
This is one of the most beautiful small trees for the ornamental landscape. It is perfectly suited as a specimen tree, an accent in a mixed border, or in a container on the patio. It anchors the Japanese style garden. Many of the cultivars remain quite small and are especially useful in small gardens, even rock gardens, and for bonsai. The brilliant autumn foliage lights up the garden, and the slender twigs and contorted branches provide winter interest. The Dissectum Tamukeyama is a strongly cascading selection which holds up very well under high heat and humidity. It is generally considered to be the most heat tolerant of the red laceleaf dissectums; and the best choice for the warmer climates but does very well in Ireland and Britain. The new foliage is deep crimson red changing to dark purple-red. Beautiful bright scarlet autumn coloration. A very hardy plant reaching 10-12' with age. Click the image to read more!
This is the sweet cherry we have all grown to love in pies and other baked goods. Provide good drainage in an acidic soil for best growth. Select a different plant if soil is poorly drained, but otherwise cherry adapts to clay or loam. However, this plant is more tolerant of flooding than other members of the Prunus genus tested. Roots should be kept moist and should not be subjected to prolonged drought. Masses of long-lasting, double white blossom appear in mid-spring with the new leaves, followed by small reddish fruit. Dark green leaves turn rich, vibrant red in autumn. Pyramid shape becoming rounded with age makes it an ideal plant for a woodland garden or as an avenue tree. Click the image to read more!

It's like having two landscape trees in one: Callery pear is a spectacularly showy tree in spring when it is covered with clusters of white flowers and again in fall when its leaves turn bright yellow, mahogany and red. This is a pear tree grown for its flowers and fall foliage, and not for an edible fruit. The deciduous leaves are oval, 2-3 in (5-7.6 cm) long, leathery and lustrous green, turning shades of yellow, orange, purple and red in fall. They persist on the tree into early winter after most deciduous trees have shed their leaves. The flowers are about 1 in (2.5 cm) across and arranged in clusters of a dozen or so, each cluster about 3 in (7.6 cm) across. They appear before and with the leaves in early spring, and completely cover the tree so that all you see is white. Most cultivars will reach 30-50 ft (9-15.2 m) in height.
