The plant is often grown on a single stem to make a small weeping tree. The branches being somewhat wayward, give the striking tree an individual, rather informal effect. It makes a lovely specimen for a small garden. Its shiny green leaves are quite eye-catching and the masses of red berries carry through from autumn through the winter. It has pretty, small white flowers in June followed by showy, bright red, autumn berries.
